About New Balance 580
Created in 1996, the 580 silhouette was designed as an off-road trail running shoe inspired from the Made in USA M585, which has sold millions worldwide. The 580 encompasses innovations like ABZORB midsole cushioning and ROLLBAR® engineering. The cushioning is an added full ground contact sole with stability technology, and the ROLLBAR® is to reduce rear-foot movement with lightweight and comfortable characteristics, which are made suitable for trail running.
Then, the global street fashion scene focused on “urban trail” which led to a number of style influencers and sneaker enthusiasts gravitating to the 580. The style became the sneaker of choice for global sneakerheads and fashionistas, after New Balance collaborated with MITA and HECTIC in 2000. Later on in 2013, the style was updated from the MT580 to the MRT580 with the addition of REVlite technology.
This year, New Balance has re-engineered the 580 for the contemporary consumer and introduced the Deconstructed 580. The Deconstructed 580 is a modernized, stripped-down version of the New Balance 580 while still keeping the integrity of the classic. A sleek, 3-piece silhouette that offers a breathable neoprene bootie construction and heel webbing for improved fit; a clean toe with details coming through the strong emboss and perforations.
“While reinventing new components to evolve the style, the 580 prides itself on the iconic midsole shape that gives an ideal fit to consumers. The new 580s reflect how we have researched and updated the technology to give the shoes a fresh appeal, without compromising on consumers’ comfort,” said Tetsuya Shono, New Balance’s Global Director of Sports Style.
The special pop-up will be open from 6th to 17th July at Scape, Singapore
