Louis Vuitton will open a Pop-Up store from April 22nd to May 7th 2017, at the Surrender store in Singapore. The Surrender store at 268 Orchard Road, with its fresh approach to retail through the interaction of music, fashion and art sets the perfect backdrop to the Louis Vuitton Pop-Up store, which will premiere a selection of the Autumn -Winter 2017 Men’s pre-collection – a collaboration between Men’s Artistic Director Kim Jones and Hiroshi Fujiwara, founder of Fragment Design.
“Hiroshi Fujiwara is an influencer in the truest sense of the work – he is a true icon of mine,” says Kim Jones, the Men’s Artistic Director of Louis Vuitton. “With this collaboration, I wanted to do something quite unexpected, something perhaps more youthful than we usually do. Hiroshi has that understanding of detail that comes from Japanese – he simply knows everything.”
Kim Jones, Men’s Artistic Director
When building the collection, Kim Jones turned to downtown New York in the 1980s, and the world and communities surrounding artists such as Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat. A central part of Louis Vuitton pre-collection is a new collaboration with Japanese icon Hiroshi Fujiwara. It was Fujiwara who brought to Tokyo the sounds and styles of New York during these years, transporting early hip hop and the preppy varsity look of the artists across continents, debuting them to a new audience. These influences remain central to Fujiwara’s acclaimed label, Fragment Design.
This collection is based on the fictitious music band “Louis V and The Fragments” created by Fujiwara and Louis Vuitton, and uses a Fragment Design featuring preppy elements and fresh, bold embroidery and prints. The pop culture, graphic motifs, history of sportswear, and passion for men’s wear design icons shared by Fujiwara and Jones are splendidly blended, and are expressed in leather goods, ready-to-wear, shoes and accessories.
The “LOUIS VUITTON SINGAPORE POP-UP STORE @ Surrender” will offer a variety of items from the collection including leather goods, ready-to-wear, shoes and accessories, as well as limited and exclusive items offered only in the pop-up.
