Shanghai Center of Photography presents Wing Shya’s solo exhibition ‘Wing Shya: Acting Out, 25 years behind camera’. A photographer, film maker and video producer, Hong Kong-based Wing Shya is best known for his work with filmmaker Wong Kar-Wai. He was hired to capture still shots of the film on and off set, which later became signature images for Wong’s films.
Be it fashion shoot, magazine covers, or advertising campaigns, Wing Shay has one unifyng trait throughout all his work – mood. Atmosphere is everything about the way he creates images. Every element that makes it into a frame plays a part in shaping and projecting the mood – where dark, intriguing, romantic, erotic or melancholy.
“Acting Out” shows more than 100 well-known and never-been-seen photographs from his professional and personal work. If you happen to be in Shanghai from now until Jan 10, 2018, make sure you go check it out.
