THING: New Balance MRT580 Revlite
Last month saw the release of the MRL996 – a subtle update of the classic 996 model but with New Balance’s lightweight Revlite cushioning tech. It retained the original’s looks right down to the finest details, and you could only tell the difference once you put them on and noticed how much lighter they are. Now, the iconic MT580 – originally a Japanese market reinterpretation of the 585 trail runner – has also received the Revlite treatment.
Everything that made the original MT580s an icon of Tokyo street/sneaker culture is as it was, like the MRL996 the changes are within the soles. This first launch from this new series will be a limited release of two OG-inspired colourways in classic suede and mesh as well as a trio of block colourways will be more widely available. Also, it should be noted that for the first time in the history of the MT580, it will finally be available in womens sizes.
The MRT580 will be available from next month onwards at New Balance Concept Stores as well as select stockists across Southeast Asia.
